Overview
Email validation is a necessary step taken to ensure that all emails entered into the system are real and safe. This helps protect you and your recipients against such things as fraud, phishing schemes, and fake accounts. When emails are valid, you ensure that the information is accurate, minimize the chances of bounced messages, and ensure all messages are deliverable. A valid email saves you time and money.
Note: DoorLoop currently only checks the validity of emails for prospects, tenants, and owners when adding them to the system. This includes when you are editing any part of their profile. You will not be able to make any edits unless the email is valid.
How does DoorLoop validate an email for accuracy?
DoorLoop users a 3rd party service that utilizes MX, DNS, SMTP, SOCIAL, and additional private technologies in determining the validity of email addresses and their ability to receive emails. These email addresses are marked as safe for sending, and thus, DoorLoop will accept these as valid email addresses.
Some examples of invalid email will include:
Disposable and temporary email addresses - Disposable emails are temporary accounts used to avoid using a real personal account during a sign-up process. Common providers of disposable emails include Mailinator, Guerilla Mail, AirMail, and 10 Minute Mail. These will not be allowed and are ually marked as fake and are not safe for sending.
Unknown addresses - These addresses cannot be verified due to several issues. This can include expired domain names, improper server settings on the receiver's end, or their domain not responding to requests.

Examples of Invalid Emails
The tenant page has an Invalid Email widget - if clicked, it will bring up a list of tenants with invalid contact information.
If you try to enter an invalid email under the contact info column, and it is invalid, you will get a warning message and will not be able to save the email.
If you're on a tenant, prospect, or owner profile and try to enter an invalid Primary Email, you will get a message as to why you can not save the profile. Please enter a valid email address.
