Edit the Check Number of a Received Payment

If you received a payment by check and entered the wrong check number, here's how you would change the number.

Overview

When you manually enter a payment, you can use a check as a payment method. This gives you the option of entering. check the number for your records. However, if you accidentally enter the wrong check number, you can easily edit the number by following the steps below.

The Steps

  1. If the payment was already deposited, you'll need to delete the deposit so you can edit the payment details. To delete the deposit, follow the instructions here: Delete a Bank Deposit.

  2. Once the deposit has been deleted, you can now edit the payment to adjust the check number. If you are already on the lease with the payment, click the 3-dots to the right of the payment and click Edit.

  3. Once on the Receive Payment window, you're now able to edit the check number and the amount if necessary.

  4. Click Save to update the payment.

  5. You will now need to redeposit the payment into your account. You can do so by following the instructions here: Manually Record a Bank Deposit.

That's it. The check number has now been updated and changed.
