Overview
Almost everything in DoorLoop allows for file uploads—tenants, leases, properties, tasks, and more. Uploading files helps you stay organized by keeping important documents tied to the right place. For example, you can upload a tenant’s lease contract directly to their lease or profile, making it easy to find when needed.
The Steps
Files can be added to almost any object in DoorLoop, whether you want to add them to that specific object directly, or upload them through the Files section and associate the file to an object from there.
Add a File in the Files Section
To add a new file to the Files section of DoorLoop, click Files & Agreements > Files on the main menu. Then, click Upload New File at the top right corner.
On the Upload Files window, drag files or use the "click here" link to upload your file(s). Note that you will have the ability to bulk upload more than one file at a time.
Once your file(s) are selected, you will need to fill out the following information:
File Name - This is automatically filled in based on the uploaded file. If there is more than one file being uploaded, this field will not be available to view.
Category - Select a category this file is associated with (property, lease, tenant, owner, vendor, prospect, or inspection).
Associate File With - Select the object that will be linked to the file (ex. a specific lease or a specific property).
Tags - (Optional) Add file tags. [Details]
Description - (Optional) Add a description to your file.
Once all your information is filled in for the file, you can click Save Files to finish.
Add a File to a Specific Object
Objects in DoorLoop refer to items like leases, properties, units, tenants, prospects, owners, etc. For the remainder of this tutorial, we'll be referencing objects but we'll use a lease as an example.
To add a new file to an object, find the object first. (For example, Leasing > Leases and clicking the Lease.)
Once on the object, click the Files tab. From there, use the Upload New File button at the top right corner. You will also have the ability to bulk upload more than one file at a time.
Once your files are selected, you will need to fill out the following:
File Name - This is automatically filed in based on the uploaded file. If there are more than one files being uploaded, this filed will not be available to view.
Category - This is automatically filled in based on the object you are on.
Associate File With - This is automatically filled in based on the object you are on.
Tags - (Optional) Add file tags. [Details]
Description - (Optional) Add a description to your file.
Once all your information is filled in for the file, you can click Save File to finish.
Tip: If you want to share the file with your tenant or owner after, you can once the file is saved. You can do so by following the instructions here: Share a File with a Tenant or an Owner. The tenants or owners you share those files with will be able to view those on their tenant portal or owner portal.
Tip: You can bulk upload files to the Files section or to a specific object. While uploading, just select multiple files at once — all bulk-uploaded files will be associated with the same category and object you set.
By attaching files where they belong, you reduce clutter and save time tracking things down later.
