Overview
With DoorLoop's electronic signature (eSignature) templates, powered by Dropbox Sign, you can create reusable templates for lease agreements, property management contracts, and other documents you send often.
Templates live inside DoorLoop, so you can send:
Lease agreements tied to specific properties, units, and tenants
Property management contracts
Purchase agreements
Any custom document you need signed
Note: Electronic Signature Templates are not available to Starter Plans. Consider upgrading to the Pro or Premium Plans to access this feature.

The Steps
Step 1 - Starting the signature template wizard
To begin the signature template wizard, click Files & Agreements > Templates on the main menu.
Next, click Create New Template on the Templates page.
Step 2 - Related Records
Choose what kind of template this will be: Lease Agreement (which includes New Lease or Lease Renewal), or Other if this is a different type of signature template.
Click Next to continue.
Step 3 - Add Files - Add your documents
Add your agreement files — lease agreements, addendums, or other related files that need signing. Drag the file onto the page or use the Click Here link to upload. You can add multiple files. Files must be in PDF or Word format.
Click Next to proceed.
Tip: If you need a sample template, click View Agreement Samples to visit the forms section and download a suitable form to use.
Step 4 - Choose Signers - Choose who needs to sign
The Choose Signers section is where you want to set up all the people who will sign your document. This includes Tenants, Prospects, Vendors, Owners, or Users.
To begin adding signers, click the Add Signer Role button to choose what category of people you want to sign the document (Tenant, Prospect, Vendor, Owner, or User).
Repeat for multiple signers.
If needed, you can use the Garbage icon to remove signers.
To set a signing order, use Customize Order of Signers — this requires the signer listed first to sign before the next signer receives the request. Turn this off if the order doesn't matter.
Click Next to proceed.
Note: To include a cosigner, add them to the lease as a tenant or prospect when you create the lease or draft lease — even if they won't be living at the property. This lets you add them as a signer here.
Step 5 - Set Signatures - Edit your template
Create the signature template based on the document you uploaded. Drag fields onto the document to either autofill information or add signature fields.
Tip: For a full breakdown of every available field, see Electronic Signature Template Fields Overview. You can also check Dropbox Sign's editor FAQ.
Drag the Signature and other fields needed from the left-hand menu onto the document, placing the boxes where required.
The Standard fields section on the left menu allows you to create your own fields for the signers to fill out. Configure these fields after placing them using the menu on the right.
For multiple signer roles, change the role using the Signers drop-down menu at the top of the left menu and then add this role's signature box and fields.
You can use the Sender role to add Textbox and Checkbox fields related to the type of agreement and the user roles that are part of this template. For example, with a lease template, you can use the Textbox field to fill in lease start and end dates.
You can use the Me (now) signer role to add fields for the e-Signature creator to fill out when using the template. (Note that the Me (now) signer role is limited to the Auto-fill and Standard fields because there is no document to be signed right now.)
When finished, click the Save Template button in the bottom right of the editor.
You can now use this template when creating new signature requests in Communications > Signature Requests.
Note: If you can't find the Save Template button, try:
Scrolling to the bottom of the page — it appears in the bottom right corner.
Zooming out, if your browser is zoomed in too far.
Once saved, this template is available when creating new signature requests under Communications > Signature Requests.
Step 6 - Template Details
Enter a name for your template. This is for your own reference — it's how you'll identify the template when selecting it later.
Then select the template type - either Lease Agreement or Addendum Agreement.
Step 7 - Confirmation
Once created, this template appears under Files & Agreements > Templates and is ready to use the next time you create a signature request for that related record type.
