Tenant Paying Multiple Months Upfront

Tenants can pay multiple months upfront in DoorLoop if the total doesn't exceed their payment limit. For large prepayments, request a limit increase or accept payment outside DoorLoop.

Written by Samuel

Whether a tenant can pay multiple months upfront depends on their payment limit.

Each merchant account has a payment limit set to reduce fraud. If the total upfront payment amount exceeds this limit, the payment will fail.

Options

  • If the amount is within the limit — The tenant can pay the full amount through the portal normally

  • Request a limit increase — Follow the instructions in Request a Limit Increase for Rent Payments

  • Accept payment outside DoorLoop — For very large amounts, it may be simpler to accept the payment outside DoorLoop (check, bank transfer, etc.) and then record it manually in DoorLoop
