Edit or Activate a Draft Lease

Find, edit, and activate a draft lease in DoorLoop once the tenant signs—convert it to an active lease to start tracking charges and payments.

Overview

If you create your leases in DoorLoop as draft leases to track the workflow as you go through the signing process with tenants, you'll likely need to edit or activate these draft leases once the tenant has signed their lease agreement.

If a tenant has already signed but the lease still isn't active, see Draft Lease Not Active After Tenant Signs in DoorLoop — this is expected behavior, since activation is always a manual step.

The Steps

Activate a Draft Lease

  1. To activate a draft lease, click Leasing > Draft Leases from the main menu.

  2. Find the draft lease you need to activate and click on the 3-dots to the right or it, then choose Activate Lease.

Once activated, the lease becomes active and the tenant can log into their portal and begin making payments.

Edit a Draft Lease

  1. To edit a draft lease, click Leasing > Draft Leases on the main menu.

  2. Find the draft lease you need to edit and click on the 3-dots to the right of it, then choose Edit.

  3. Go through the New Lease wizard and make any changes that are needed.

  4. If you're still saving this as a Draft Lease, click the X button on the "Lease saved as a draft" window. Otherwise select one of the other options if you're ready to continue to the next steps.
