DoorLoop’s tenant screening system gives you the flexibility to meet your workflow needs. This extends beyond just editing the application questions themselves. You can also decide how to set up your rental applications depending on the experience you want for your potential tenants.
For example, you might want to “pre-screen” prospects, where they fill out an initial rental application, perhaps without getting charged. From those applications, you might pick out several “finalists” to submit another rental application where you request TransUnion SmartMove reports to do a full background check.
Another possibility is that you might have many properties and you aren’t interested in setting up a separate rental application for each property because you don’t need the benefits this provides.

The Steps
To create a generic rental application for all your properties, follow the steps below:
To create a generic rental application, first, you will need to create a “property” that represents your business. Make sure you change this property's settings and name this property whatever you want the applicants to see when filling out the rental application.
Review the rental applications as you normally would when prospects submit them.
That's how you would set up a generic rental application. The rental application will only show that the prospect applied to your business property and not to any specific property.
What are the pros and cons of separate rental applications for each property?
Having unique rental application links for each property allows prospects to see the address of the property they are actually applying to rent.
Also allows you to easily see applications separated by property, rather than having to edit the rental application later.
If needed, you can also set different settings or questions for each property rental application.
However, this means you have to set up rental applications for each property.
What are the pros and cons of one rental application for all my properties?
You only have to set up rental application settings once.
You only need to have and send out one rental application link.
However, you won’t be showing the property address of the actual property each prospect is applying to rent.
You also can’t easily see applications separated by property unless you edit the rental application to assign them to a property later.
Additional Considerations
If you are “pre-screening” applicants before having them submit rental applications for background checks, you will also need to set up rental application settings on your other properties.
When a pre-screened prospect submits and pays for the second rental application for a background check, you review that rental application as you would any other rental application, but this time you will be able to get TransUnion SmartMove reports.
