Turning Prospects into Tenants

Prospects turn into tenants when they’ve been added to a lease.

Overview

Prospects are an essential part of the DoorLoop experience and turning them into Tenants is a simple process. This can actually be done several ways so we’ll be running through all those ways here. Choose the method that works best for you.



The Steps

Method 1 - Through the New Lease Creation Process

There are actually a couple of different ways to turn a Prospect into a Tenant. The most straightforward method is when you Add a New Lease. This occurs during Step 2 of the process. The basic flow goes like this:

  1. On the main menu, click Leasing and then choose either Leases or Draft Leases.

  2. Click on + New Lease at the upper right of the display.

  3. Go through the Overview step and add your Property, Unit, and Lease Terms.

  4. Click Next to continue.

  5. Now we’re on the Tenants tab and this is where we turn Prospects into Tenants. Under “Who are the tenants?”, click Add Tenant. Look for the Prospect you want to add to the Lease and click on them. This will add them to the Lease.

  6. Click Next to continue and finish the rest of the steps to complete the Lease creation process.

  7. Your Prospect will now be a Tenants as soon as the Lease becomes active.


Method 2 - Through the Prospects Section

Alternatively, you can also click People and then click Prospects. Find the Prospect you want to change into a Tenant on the list. Click the Prospect.

  1. On the Prospect’s Overview page, click the New Lease button.

  2. Go through the Overview step and add your Property, Unit, and Lease Terms.

  3. Click Next to continue.

  4. Now we’re on the Tenants tab and this is where we turn Prospects into Tenants. Under “Who are the tenants?”, click Add Tenant. Look for the Prospect you want to add to the Lease and click on them. This will add them to the Lease.

  5. Click Next to continue and finish the rest of the steps to complete the Lease creation process.

  6. Your Prospect will now be a Tenants as soon as the Lease becomes active.


Method 3 - Move-In a Prospect into an Existing Lease

You can also turn a Prospect into a Tenant by moving them into an existing lease. This is done by going into an Active Lease and moving a Prospect into it. You can read this article, Move-in a Tenant for a more detailed explanation.

  1. On the main menu, click Leasing and then click Active Leases.

  2. On the list of active leases, click on the Lease you want to move a Prospect into.

  3. On the Lease’s Overview page, click the Tenants tab.

  4. Click the Move-in Tenant button.

  5. Find the Prospect you want to move-in from the list and click on them.

  6. Enter the move-in date and click Save. They are now Tenants and no longer Prospects.
