Overview

An inactive Lease is one that has been ended. There are several cases where you might need to edit a lease that has already ended. Even though the lease is inactive, you might want to edit transactions, add transactions, or delete transactions. Maybe you realized that you recorded the wrong start or end date for the lease, and you need to fix this. You might even need to refund deposits or overpayments. Whatever the case, here is how you would edit transactions on an inactive lease.

The Steps

Search for an Inactive Lease

  1. The quickest way to find an inactive lease is to use the Global Search bar at the top of your DoorLoop dashboard. Click the Global Search bar at the top.

  2. Type in the name of the inactive lease or the name of the tenant. This will bring up all the leases (active and inactive) that are associated with the tenant.

View all inactive leases

  1. To view all inactive leases, click Leasing on the main menu and then click Inactive Leases.

  2. From the Inactive Leases page, find and click the Inactive Lease you want to view.

Tip: Leases by default are arranged by their Lease Name. They cannot be arranged by the property or unit address. You can only arrange them by lease name, start date, end date, rent amount, or Balance due amount.

View all inactive leases associated with a specific property

You can also view all inactive leases on a specific property by doing the following:

  1. To view an inactive lease on a specific property and edit the one you need, click Rentals and then click Properties.

  2. Find and click on the property with the inactive lease you are looking for.

  3. On the property, click the Leases tab.

  4. Click the Filter button, and then on the Active field, select Inactive. Click Close to exit the filter pane.

  5. You will now see a list of all the inactive leases for the property you selected. Click on the Inactive Lease you need to view.

That's it! Despite having ended a lease, you are able to view and edit Inactive Leases later to add updated information and fix mistakes.

Next Step: Once you are on an inactive lease, you can edit the inactive lease like you would any active lease. For more instruction on this, read the article: Edit an Inactive Lease (A Lease That Has Ended)
