Overview
While you want to encourage your tenants to use the tenant portal, there may be times you no longer want to give them access — for instance, if you put a lease in eviction status, or if you suspect a tenant is using the portal for fraud.
There are several ways to do this, covered below.
The Steps
Turning Off the Tenant Portal on a Lease
To avoid affecting other leases on the same property, one of the easiest ways to revoke tenant portal access is to turn it off at the lease level. This turns off the tenant portal for just that lease and won't affect anyone else.
Click Leasing > Active Leases on the main menu.
Find and click on the lease you want to turn off the tenant portal for.
Click the Settings tab, then click the Tenant Portal button.
On the Tenant Portal settings, select Specify portal features for this lease. Then toggle off "Allow tenants to access the tenant portal."
Click Save to finish.
The tenant portal is now off for that specific lease. Alternatively, if you still want to give them access but don't want to give them access to specific features, you can leave portal access on and toggle off just the individual features you don't want them to have.
Un-invite a Specific Tenant From the Tenant Portal
If a lease has multiple tenants and you don't want to disable tenant portal access for all of them by turning it off at the lease level, you can revoke access for just one specific tenant instead. This turns off portal access only for that tenant, so they can no longer log in with their credentials, while everyone else on the lease keeps access.
Click Leasing > Active Leases on the main menu.
Find and click the lease.
Click the Tenants tab.
On the tenant list for the lease, click the 3-dots on the line item of the tenant you want to turn off access to and select Edit.
On the Personal Info tab, scroll down to the bottom and toggle off "Disable toggle to revoke tenant portal access." A note appears confirming: "The tenant portal is currently active for this tenant. Turn off the toggle to revoke their access at any time."
Click Save to finish.
That specific tenant can no longer log into their tenant portal, while everyone else on the lease still can.
