Overview
While you do want to encourage your tenants to make use of the tenant portal, there may be instances where you may no longer want to give them access to it. For instance, if you put a lease in eviction status or if you suspect that they're using the portal for fraud.
There are several ways you can do this and we'll cover them all below.
The Steps
Turning off the tenant portal on a lease
So as to not affect other leases that might be on a property, one of the easiest ways to revoke tenant portal access is to turn it off on the lease level. This will turn off the tenant portal for just that lease and won't affect anyone else.
On the main menu, click Leasing and then click Active Leases.
Find the lease you want to turn off the tenant portal for and click on it. You can either sort the list by the various columns and filters or use the Search leases search bar.
Click on the Settings tab in the lease and then click the Tenant Portal button.
On the Tenant Portal settings, select Specify portal features for this lease.
Under Portal Access, toggle off "Grant tenants to access the tenant portal".
Click Save to finish.
The tenant portal is now off for that specific lease. Alternatively, if you still want to give them access, but don't want to give them specific features only, then you can toggle off anything you don't want to give them access to, but keep tenant access on.
Un-invite the tenant to the tenant portal
Let's say that you have a lease that happens to have multiple tenants on it, but you don't want to disable tenant portal access to all the tenants by turning it off on the lease. You can actually revoke access to a specific tenant my "uninviting" them to the tenant portal. Basically, all you would be doing here is turning off access for a specific tenant so they can no longer access it with their login credentials.
On the main menu, click Leasing and then click Active Leases.
Find the lease you want to turn off the tenant portal for and click on it. You can either sort the list by the various columns and filters or use the Search leases search bar.
Alternatively, you can also search for the tenant through People > Tenants.
Click the Tenants tab.
On the tenant list for the lease, click the three dots on the line item of the tenant you want to turn off access to and click Edit.
On the Personal Info tab, scroll down to the bottom and toggle off "Disable toggle to revoke tenant portal access."
Click Save to finish.
That specific tenant should now not be able to log into their tenant portal any longer while everyone else on the lease will still be able to.
