Overview
Tenants can easily pay their rent and other balances through the Tenant Portal with a few simple steps. Whether you are paying by credit card or by bank transfer via ACH, the Tenant Portal makes online payments a breeze.
There are several reasons why making payments through the Tenant Portal can be beneficial. First, it can save you time and effort because you don't have to go to a physical location to make a payment. Second, online payments can be more secure than traditional methods because they often use encryption and other security measures to protect your information. Finally, online payments can be convenient because you can make payments from anywhere with an internet connection, and you can schedule payments in advance.
The Steps
Creating the Autopay
For these instructions, we are going to assume that you have already added and verified a payment method, either credit card or bank account (ACH). If you need to do this still, please refer to the article on How to Make a Payment Through the Tenant Portal.
On your tenant portal homepage, you can click Setup Auto-Pay (Recurring Auto-payments) button.
Under the Payment Details, enter the amount you want to pay each month, set the Frequency to Monthly, and then enter the Payment Date you want your autopay to start taking payments.
If you want the autopay to continue uninterrupted until the end of the lease, toggle on "Repeat until the end of the lease". Otherwise, enter the Number of Payments you want to have autopay for before it expires.
Click Next.
On the Payment Method screen, select one of your saved payment methods, whether it's a Credit Card or a Bank Account. If you don't see a saved payment method, you'll need to enter a New Payment Method.
Click Next.
On the Payment Summary page, double-check all the info and make sure the amount is correct. Also, make sure that the starting date of the autopay is correct. If everything looks correct, click Schedule Payment to complete the process. Note that payment will not be made until the date that you have set.
You'll now be at the Payments tab of your tenant portal. Before you exit your tenant portal, please make sure that you only see one Active Autopay here. If you see more than one autopay here, please delete one of them if you don't want the system to take more than one payment.
Things to Consider
Payments can be withdrawn within 72 hours of the date that you have set. Please make sure that you have sufficient funds in your account to cover the payment. Otherwise, you could be hit with possible insufficient funds and reverse payment fees.
Autopays will run for the full amount each month that you have set. They do not take into consideration any credits or additional charges you might have.
