Overview
You can notify tenants one day before late fees are charged, and again once they've been charged, giving them a chance to pay before the fee posts. These reminders can be set at the company, property, or lease level.
Note: In order to have late fees post a charge on a tenant's lease, you will need to turn on Late Fees for those specific leases. You can do so on each individual lease or through the Lease Late Fees Report if you want to enable them in bulk.
The Steps
To set up lease late fee reminders for tenants, click Settings on the main menu. Then under the Property Settings section, click Fees Settings.
On the Fees Settings window, click Late Fees.
Then from the Late Fees section, go to the Notifications & Reminders section and select the notification type for "Send a reminder 1 day before late fees are charged" and "Send a notice upon charging late fees." You can choose to notify tenants via Email, SMS, and Push Notifications.
Click Save to finish.
Tip: Property-Specific Late Fee Reminders - You can override the company default with unique reminder settings for a specific property. Click Rentals > Properties, select the property, then Settings > Fees Settings > Late Fees, and choose "Specify a late fee structure for this property." Set the Notifications & Reminders the same way as the company-level steps above.
Tip: Lease-Specific Late Fee Reminders - You can also override both the company and property defaults with unique reminder settings for a specific lease. Click Leasing > Active Leases, select the lease, then Settings > Fees Settings > Late Fees, and choose "Specify a late fee structure for this lease." Set the Notifications & Reminders the same way as the company-level steps above.
