Overview
Property types are important in that they help you classify your properties. There are two main types of properties you can enter in DoorLoop and those are Residential and Commercial properties. During the property creation process, you would have had to choose one or the other along with a sub-category. If for any reason you chose the wrong property type when setting up the property, here's how you would edit that info for correction.
The Steps
To edit the property type of a property, click Rentals on the main menu and then click on Properties.
Find and click on the Property you want to edit the property type for.
Once on the property, click the Settings tab and then click Property Type.
On the Property Type section of the Edit Property window, you can choose a different sub-category from what you had chosen before, or choose an entirely different property type, switching from commercial to residential or vice-versa.
Click Save to finish.
That's it. The property type is now changed. If you need to make any changes, just follow the instructions above again.
Tip: If you plan on listing the property and unit, the property type must be correctly chosen based on the actual property type; otherwise, the listing may be blocked. Below is how you should choose the residential property type for your rental:
Single-Family Home:
Standalone residential structure
Intended for one family
Multi-Family Home:
Residential building with multiple units
This is used when you own every unit in a multi-unit building (with the exception of duplexes and triplexes)
If your Multi-Family Home has more than 25 units, there will be fees for the landlord (this is when they’ll have to use their company ID).
Condo:
Use this when you own a unit in a building, but not the entire building
Shared common areas with other units
Duplexes and triplexes also fall under this category
Listings will be blocked if you do not own the entire building
Townhome:
Multi-floor home sharing one or more walls with adjacent properties
Has its own entrance
Other:
Properties not fitting the categories
