Overview
A common error users run into is when trying to send a payment through Checkbook.io and receiving a "400 Daily Limit Exceeded" error. This message is shown because the default sending limit is $2,000 per day, $2,000 per payment, and $15,000 per month. To increase this, you'll need to log into Checkbook.io. We'll show you how to do this and what to do if you have a pending payment waiting to be sent.
Note: Increasing the sending limit with these instructions is only for those who see the Settings > Outgoing Payments button. Otherwise, please use the instructions here: Outgoing Payments Limit Increase.
The Steps
Increase your sending limit for Checkbook.io
Important requirement before you get started - You must have 2-Step Verification setup with Checkbook.io. You will find the setup process right under the Limit Increase Box. You will have a choice to use your phone (to receive a text message) or your favorite Authenticator App (to set up to use codes). Once you're all set, you may continue to step 1 of submitting your Limit Request.
To increase your Checkbook.io sending limits, click Settings and then click Outgoing Payments. Click the Sending Limits tab and click +Submit a Request. This will take you to Checkbook.io.
Checkbook.io will open in a new tab on your browser. Log in and click Settings on the left menu. On the right-hand side of the settings page, you'll see a section for Limit Increase. Click the Request Limit Increase button. (As stated above, you need 2-Step Verification set to request a limit increase).
On the Limit Increase Request window, fill out the form, attach a bank statement / void check of the bank account linked to your Checkbook account, and a selfie of the account holder with a government issued ID for verification purposes. Then click Submit.
Once the Checkbook.io limit request form is received, the documents will be reviewed and you will be notified by email when your account is updated with the new limits. This can take up to 72 hours.
That's it. Once you have been approved for the new sending limits, the new payments you create should go through now based on the new sending limit you had set.
Pending payments not sent after the limit increase
If you had any pending payments you were trying to send before increasing your sending limit with Checkbook.io, you may still get an error message. In this case, we recommend you do the following:
Click Accounting on the main menu and then click Outgoing Payments.
For the payments you see on the list that can not be sent, click the 3-dots to the right of each payment and click Delete.
Re-create those payments. Once you have done this, you will be able to send them out without issues.
