Overview
Consider sending a welcome SMS to your tenants, prospects, vendors, and owners after setting up the Communication Center. The welcome SMS lets your recipients know that the number isn't spam and is coming from the property manager. It includes opt-out instructions, in case they don't want to receive messages from you.
Note: The Communications Center isn't available for Starter Plans. Consider upgrading to the Pro or Premium Plans to access this feature.
Tip: Want to change what the welcome message actually says? You can customize it from the Welcome Message tab in your Communication Center Settings.
The Steps
Send a Welcome SMS to a Tenant, Prospect, Vendor, or Owner
The steps are the same regardless of who you're sending to. Your recipient will need a valid mobile phone number on file to receive the message.
Click People, then click Tenants, Prospects, Vendors, or Owners, depending on who you're sending to.
Find the recipient. Then click the 3-dots to the right of them and select Edit.
Om the Edit Tenant window, under the Personal Info tab, make sure the Mobile Phone field is filled in with a valid number, and then toggle on "Send a Welcome Text Message." This sends a welcome SMS to their phone with your contact information on it.
For a new tenant, there's also a second option: when creating a new lease, there's a built-in option to send a welcome message as you add the tenant to the lease.
You can double-check whether the welcome SMS was sent by viewing the Communications Log.
For reference, the welcome SMS looks something like this on the recipient's end:
