Overview
You can now duplicate existing journal entries and transactions if you want to use them as templates for new journal entries and transactions. This can be useful, especially for transactions that might have a lot of line items included and would take too much time to enter them in again. Or maybe you want to duplicate a journal entry as a template for a new journal entry with different numbers.
The Steps
The means by which you would duplicate a journal entry or transaction is different depending on the starting point. In this example, we will be duplicating them from the Transactions List report.
To duplicate a journal entry or transaction, click Reports on the main menu and then click the Transactions List report.
Find the journal entry or transaction you want to duplicate and click on it.
You'll now be on the corresponding edit window of that journal entry or transaction. Click on the new Duplicate Icon in the upper right-hand corner.
DoorLoop creates a duplicate of the original journal entry or transaction. From here, you can edit any of the fields or leave them the same. More than likely, you'll want to change the dates and amounts and what journal entry or transaction is in relation to.
Click Save to finish.
That's it. You will now see the new journal entry or transaction on the Transactions List report. It will not be labeled as a duplicate but as a brand-new entry that can also be duplicated if needed.
Tip: You can use the Duplicate feature in many places on DoorLoop. This includes Active and Inactive Leases, setting up Recurring Bills and Expenses, and other reports from within DoorLoop.
