Overview

To set up a Communications Center account and two-way texting with your tenants, owners, and vendors, you need to have a valid US-based business registered with the IRS. Mainly, you need the information included in your Letter 147C, specifically the legal business name, address associated with the business, and the Employer Identification Number (EIN). These can also be found on your SS-4 confirmation letter.

The Steps

All the information you need to set up the Communications Center is on your Letter 147C. What you're looking for is this (below is an example of a Letter 147C):

  • Legal Business Name

  • Legal Business Address

  • Employer Identification Number

The most important piece of info you need is the EIN number. The Business Name and Business Address is already part of your Merchant Account, so we'll only be using the Letter 147C to verify these two pieces of information.

Note: If you cannot find your Letter 147C, you can request one from the IRS. Contact the IRS Business and Specialty Tax line at 1-800-829-4933. They are open Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, taxpayer local time (Alaska and Hawaii follow Pacific Time). Be prepared to answer several security questions. After that, the IRS will mail or fax you your 147c letter.
