Set Up Rent & Payment Notifications

Notify your tenants about rent charges and send them payment receipts

Overview

If you want to notify your tenants when rent is due, when a payment has been made, or when late fees have been charged, then you'll want to turn on Rent & Payment Notifications. These can be configured at the company level where these settings will apply to all of your properties. You can also set these up as property-specific notification settings, which will override the company settings.

The Steps

  1. To set rent and payment notification settings, click Settings on the main menu and then click Rent & Payment Notification.

  2. In the Rent & Payment Notifications window, set the following options:

    • Rent Reminders

      • Send a notification to remind the tenant about an upcoming rent - here you can set a specific number of days before rent is due to notify the tenants

      • Do not send a notification if the tenant has already paid

    • Rent Overdue

      • Send recurring notifications to remind the tenant about overdue rent

      • Set the number of days after rent has not been paid to notify tenants

      • Set the frequency at which these notifications will be sent

    • Rent Posted

      • Post charges to the account before the due date - here you can post charges several days in advance of when a payment will be due

      • Send a notification to the tenant when rent is posted

      • Include an account statement PDF in the email [details]

      • Include an invoice to the email [details]

    • Payment Received

      • Send a notification to the tenant when they make an online payment

      • Send a notification to DoorLoop users when a tenant makes an online payment - here you can specify which of your users on your account will receive payment received notifications

    • Payment Returned

      • Send a notification to the tenant when an online payment is returned

      • Send a notification to DoorLoop users when an online payment is returned - here you can specify which of your users on your account will receive payment return notifications

    • Text Messages

      • Turn on or off whether to send text notifications to your tenants. The default is set to off.

  3. When you are finished making your selections, click Save.

That's it!

Note: You will need to set this up before the rent charge starts posting. Notifications are also based on the rent due date set.
