Overview
An inactive Lease is one that has been ended. There are several cases where you might need to edit a lease that has already ended. Even though the lease is inactive, you might want to edit transactions, add transactions, or delete transactions. Maybe you realized that you recorded the wrong start or end date for the lease, and you need to fix this. You might even need to refund deposits or overpayments. Whatever the case, here is how you would edit transactions on an inactive lease.
The Steps
To edit an inactive lease (a lease that has ended), click Leasing on the main menu and then click Inactive Leases.
Find and click on the lease you want to edit.
On the inactive lease's Overview page, you will have several courses of action:
If you need to add or edit transactions, click on the Transactions tab. Here, you'll be able to Post Charges, Receive Payments, Issue Credits, or Give Refunds if needed. You can also edit or delete any of the transactions within.
If you need to withhold or refund deposits, you can do so on the Deposits tab. You can also add or edit Notes, Files, and even Tenants using their respective tabs.
If you need to edit the terms of the lease, click the Settings tab and then click the Lease Terms button. Change the Start date or End date as needed.
That's it! Despite having ended a lease, you were able to edit it later to add updated information and fix mistakes.
