Overview
First, you should not delete a lease that has been actively collecting payments. Instead, you should End the Lease if you don't plan on having that lease active anymore. This is because you will need all the data on a lease for reporting purposes and accurate accounting.
However, if you still insist on deleting a lease, you do so at your own risk because anything you delete can not be recovered. If you created a lease you no longer want to appear on your DoorLoop account, you can delete it as long as all transactions on that lease are also deleted.
Note: It is recommended not to delete a lease unless it is created in error.
You would not delete a lease just because it ended. Instead, you would use the End Lease process.
You would not delete a lease just because you created a lease with incorrect lease terms and want to start over. Instead, you would edit the active lease to update the terms.
It is best practice to end a lease instead so that all the details of the lease and transactions are retained.
The Steps
Delete an Active Lease
To delete an active lease, click Leasing on the main menu and then click Active Leases.
Find the lease you want to delete and click on it.
Click on the Transactions tab and delete all the transactions. To do this, click on the check box below the search bar and to the left of the Type column to select all the transactions at once, or click the check boxes on the left side of individual transactions to select them.
Once you have checked the boxes, click the Delete link and confirm the Delete Confirmation.
If a transaction you are trying to delete is a payment that has already been deposited, you will not be able to delete the payment until you delete the corresponding bank deposit. You need to edit the payment, click on the View Deposit button, and delete the deposit. Then, you can go ahead and delete the lease payment. Also, be aware that if there are any ePays on the lease, you will not be able to delete those or delete the lease.
Now that all the transactions are deleted, click on Manage Lease in the top right corner and select Delete.
In the Delete Confirmation, click the Delete button.
If you delete all the transactions for this lease, it will successfully be deleted and you are done!
