Overview
Tenants are able to send you Requests on the Tenant Portal (if the feature is enabled) which will allow them to report any issues they might have with their rental unit. However, if you don't enable notifications for these requests, you won't see them when they get sent to you. That's why it's important to turn on these notifications so you'll always know if a tenant has an issue that needs resolving.
Note: Tenant Requests and Maintenance Request notifications can only be received by email or Push notifications if you have the DoorLoop app installed on your mobile device. There are no text message notifications for Tenant Requests or Maintenance Request.
The Steps
Turn On Tenant Request (Maintenance Requests) Notifications
To enable notifications for tenant requests and maintenance requests received, click Settings on the main menu and then click Tenant Requests under the Property Settings section.
On Tenant Requests window, toggle on Automatically notify assigned when a tenant request is received and Automatically assign users when a tenant request is received.
When the Select Users field appears, you can add yourself or any other User who you want to be notified of tenant requests.
Click Save to finish.
Note: These settings are also available in the Settings tab for each of your properties. If you change these settings for a specific property, that property will use its own settings and override the company-level settings.
Turn on Push Notifications of Tenant Requests (Maintenance Requests) Received
By default, these settings should be turned on under the notifications panel. However, if you had turned them off, this is how you would turn them back on.
To turn on push notifications for tenant requests received, click Notifications on the main menu.
When the Notifications Panel appears, click the Gear Icon at the top right-hand corner.
The only settings here that you want to make sure are on for Tenant Requests are Task Assigned to You and Task Updates. Select both Push Notifications and Email.
Click Save to finish.
We should point out that Tenant Request notifications are only sent to the assigned user via Email or as a Push Notification if you have downloaded the DoorLoop app on your mobile device. Tenant Request notifications are not sent by SMS text messages.
It is suggested that you download the DoorLoop app on your mobile phone if you want push notifications on your phone. Read the following article for more information: Enable Push Notifications on Your Phone or Tablet by Downloading the DoorLoop App.
That's pretty much it. You'll now receive notifications every time a Tenant creates a new Request as well as one when those Requests get updated.
Note: In the Notifications Panel, Tenant Requests will appear as Tasks. However, if you go to the Tasks and Maintenance section, they will appear as Tenant Requests.
