Overview

You want your tenants to pay on time, but when they don't, late fees will post. No one likes having late fees post but now it's possible to notify tenants one day before late fees charge so that they still have time to make a payment before that happens.

The Steps

  1. To set up property-specific late fee reminders for tenants, click Rentals on the main menu and then click Properties.

  2. Find and click on the Property you want to set up late fee notifications for.

  3. On the property, click the Settings tab and then click Fees Settings.

  4. On the Fees Settings window, click Late Fees on the left menu to get to the Late Fees section.

  5. On the Late Fees section, you'll be presented with two options, you can either choose "Use the company default late fee structure" or "Specify a late fee structure for this property." We will choose the second option for this tutorial.

  6. Once you choose Specify a late fee structure for this property, you'll see all the same options you would see for the company default late fee settings.

  7. On the Late Fees window, go to the Notifications & Reminders section and select the notification type for "Send a reminder 1 day before late fees are charged" and "Send a notice upon charging late fees." You can choose to notify tenants via Email, SMS, and Push Notifications.

  8. Click Save to finish.

Note: In order to have late fees post a charge on a tenant's lease, you will need to turn on Late Fees for those specific leases. You can do so on each individual lease or through the Lease Late Fees Report if you want to enable them in bulk.
