Overview
When creating e-signature templates for your leases, you'll more than likely have several fields that need to be filled in. With the e-signature templates, you can have these fields autofill based on your Draft Lease and Active Lease information, Property and Unit information, tenant and prospect info, and more.
Note: E-Signature Templates are not available to Starter Plans. Consider upgrading to the Pro or Premium Plans to access this feature.
Tip: If you need a template or form to get started with, DoorLoop has free rental forms and templates, which you can check out here.
The Steps
The first step in creating an auto-filling e-signature template is to click on Communications on the main menu and then click Signature Templates.
You'll then want to go through the initial process of setting up the template by adding a title and general information, relating it to a specific type of record, uploading your document, and then adding signer roles. Follow the instructions in the article: Create an e-Signature Template.
(Once you've set up the initial e-signature template, you'll want to return here and learn how to add auto-fill fields to your uploaded document.)
Auto-fill fields basically pull the information you have about a specific property and unit along with any information you might have already inputted for a Draft Lease or Active Lease and automatically fill that into your lease template. To use these fields, set the Signers role to Sender, using the dropdown menu.
Next, under the Standard Fields section on the left, click and hold on Textbox and drag it to your document.
Once you have moved that Textbox to where you need it on the document, look to the right for the "What text goes here?" section. Click on the dropdown menu and choose one of the autofill attributes that best matches what you need.
For example, if you want to autofill the rent amount, you can use the attribute DraftLease.Rent.Amount. If it's a lease start date, it would be DraftLease.StartDate.
Once you are finished, click Save Template and you'll be taken back to the Signature Templates page. Your e-Signature Template is now ready to use.
If you ever need to edit your eSignature templates, you can just go back to Communications > Signature Templates and click the template you want to edit.
