Overview
When creating a lease renewal, you can also create an E-Signature request at the same time. You would create these slightly differently however from how you would create an e-Signature request for a draft lease.
Note: e-Signature Templates are not available to Starter Plans. Consider upgrading to the Pro or Premium Plans to access this feature.
Tip: If you need a template or form to get started with, DoorLoop has free rental forms and templates, which you can check out here.
The Steps
Step 1 - Create an E-Signature Template for Existing Leases
e-Signature templates need to be related to specific records. In this case, since it will be a renewal for an existing lease, you will select Existing Lease as the related record.
In the Signature Template wizard, under the Related Records section, select "Show More Options" and then choose Existing Lease as to what the template will be related to. This will ensure that the information from the existing lease and tenant information is being pulled for use in the template.
The rest of the steps will require that you go through the entire Signature Templates wizard as normal. You can refer back to the article "Create an e-Signature Template" for the rest of the steps.
Step 2 - When Renewing a Lease, Select "Existing Lease" When Requesting an E-Signature
So now, when you renew a lease and reach the Status section, you will select Not Signed under the "Define Your Lease" section and Send eSignature under the "e-Signature" section. This will take you to the Signature Requests wizard.
When you are on the Signature Requests wizard, click Show More Options and select Existing Lease. You'll be prompted to select the current lease. After that, you can continue with the eSignature Request process. Read the article, Requesting eSignatures for a refresher.
