Overview
When you post updates to tenant requests (maintenance requests) submitted online, you can choose whether or not to notify the tenant. Notifying the tenant sends them an email (if you have their email address on file) and adds the message to the request's Activity Feed in their tenant portal. If you choose not to notify the tenant, these updates will show in your Activity Feed for the tenant's request but not the tenant’s.
The Steps
To update a tenant request (maintenance request), click Tasks & Maintenance on the main menu and then click Tenant Requests.
On the Tenant Requests page, find and click on the tenant request you want to update.
On the request overview page, click the Post an Update button.
The Post an Update window will appear. You can enter an update under the Message section as well as updates to the Due Date, Status, etc. It's suggested to click Notify Tenant so that the tenant knows an update has been made to their original request. (Note that adding a due date here or updating the due date will change the due date of the tenant request overall.)
Click Save to finish.
Any updates you make will appear on the Activity Feed on the Overview page.
Note: If you use the Complete Task button to finish the request, your tenant does not get an email notification that the task has been completed. First, make sure you Post An Update with Notify Tenant(s) checked to let your tenant know their request has been completed.
