Overview
If you require renters insurance, you'll first need to configure your tenant portal settings to allow tenants to submit proof of their renters insurance online. You can also turn on a setting when creating a new lease to display a reminder message in the tenant portal that insurance is required.
If the lease is already created and you need to turn this requirement on or off — because it wasn't set correctly, or insurance is no longer required — you can do that here.
Note: DoorLoop’s integrations with Lemonade and Sure allow tenants to access and purchase renters insurance from their tenant portal, making coverage simple and accessible.
The Steps
To edit the requirement for renters insurance on an active lease, click Leasing > Leases from the main menu.
Find and click on the lease you want to require renters insurance for.
On the lease, click on Settings and then the Renters Insurance button.
From the Lease Renters Insurance window, turn on or off Require Renters Insurance.
Click Save to finish.
This will now be reflected on the Tenant Portal for whether or not they require renters insurance.
