Overview

Announcements sent to tenants can now be formatted, providing a custom look to your messages. This means you can use formatting to highlight important details in your messages making them easier to read and understand.

Note: Announcements are not available to Starter Plans. Consider upgrading to the Pro or Premium Plans to access this feature.

The Steps

There's nothing special you need to do to enable this option as it is now available to all by default. To access them, you only need to click on Communications in the main menu and then click Announcements.

Tip: The formatting of text will only appear for emails and tenant portal announcements. They will not work for text messages or voice messages.

Formatting Toolbar

When you reach Step 3 of the announcement creation wizard, this is where things change a bit. You'll notice that you will still need to enter a Subject and the Announcement Content, but now you'll be able to format the Announcement Content. Type everything out as normal, but now when you select a portion of text, you'll see a formatting toolbar popup where you'll be able to select Bold, Italic, Underline, and Strikethrough. You'll see how this works in the example provided above.

The formatting toolbar is for basic formatting. For more advanced formatting, you'll need to enter a bit of code, but it's not difficult.

Ordered List

To create an ordered list, all you need to do is start off with the number 1, a period after and then hit the spacebar. You'll know if this works when the number indents itself like in the example shown above. Type in your first item, press enter or return, and the next line should appear as 2, then 3, and so on. Press Enter or Return twice to end the list.

Unordered Lists

To create an unordered list, it's almost the same except for what we're using. Here you'll want to first type the hyphen (-) and then hit the space bar. You'll know if this works when a bullet point appears and the line indents itself.

Headers

You can also adjust the size of text using Header tags. There are six different sizes of text you can use and for simplicity, we've labeled them as H1 - H6. To use these, you would type your text out as normal and at the start of the line you want the text size changed, you would enter #. The number of # signs you enter corresponds to the heading type. So if you want to use H2 for instance, it would be ## plus a space and then your text. You can see how this works in the example above. Note that these have to be placed at the beginning of each new line.

Once you have your announcement all formatted, you can send your announcement. Your finished product will looks something like the above example.

That's it!
