Overview
One of the simplest ways to streamline communication, payments, and document sharing is by using DoorLoop's Tenant Portal. It gives your tenants access to everything they need — payments, maintenance requests, and announcements — while cutting down on manual tasks for you. Inviting them to their portal is as simple as sending them an email or SMS message with their portal invite.

Tip: Make sure to configure your tenant portal settings before inviting your tenants to their portals!
Note: Tenants can also activate their tenant portal without an invite email by going to app.doorloop.com/tenant-portal/login, or by scanning your company's QR code, if you've set one up. See Tenant Portal Access: QR Code & Self-Service Activation for more information.
The Steps
How to Send Individual Tenant Portal Invites
To send a tenant portal invite to a single tenant, click People > Tenants on the main menu.
Find the tenant with an active lease that you want to invite to your tenant portal. Click the "Invite to Portal" link under the Action column. This sends a portal invitation directly to the email or phone number on the tenant's account.
You can check the status of the portal invitation using the Tenant Directory report, or in Communications > Communications Log.
Tip: If the invite was sent to their phone number via SMS, once the tenant receives the text message, they can click the link and enter their own email address for the login. The login email is updated on your end and visible under their tenant profile from your dashboard.
Note: If the tenant doesn't receive the portal invitation, verify that tenant portal access is enabled at the lease level and confirm the tenant's email address is correct. Ask the tenant to check their spam or junk folder if issues persist. If the portal invitation link doesn't work, check the company-level tenant portal invitation settings — special characters there can cause issues, so remove any and try again.
How to Send Tenant Portal Invites to Multiple Tenants at Once
There are several ways to send out bulk tenant portal invites all at once. You can choose to send them to all your tenants, all the tenants in a specific property, or select tenants of your choice. See Bulk Invite Multiple Tenants to the Tenant Portal for the full steps, or click the links below if you already know the criteria for your bulk invites:
Tip: You can use bulk invites to resend tenant portal invites for tenants who haven't yet accepted their invitation, as well as to brand new tenants.
How to Re-Invite Tenants to the Tenant Portal
If your tenant tells you they no longer have their tenant portal invite email, you can re-invite them to send a new tenant portal invite email.
To resend a tenant portal invite to a single tenant, click People > Tenants on the main menu.
Find the tenant(s) you want to resend a portal invite to and click Resend Invite under the Action column for that tenant. This sends a new portal invitation email to the email address or phone number on the tenant's account
You can check the status of the portal invitation using the Tenant Directory report, or in Communications > Communications Log.
If they want to access their tenant portal from their phone, they can also download the DoorLoop app on Android and Apple iOS.
Note: If you receive an error stating, "A tenant with this Tenant Portal login email already exists in your DoorLoop account," it means that another tenant in the system is using the same email address. Tenants must have a unique email address and cannot share the same one as someone else. Please use another email address.
