Overview

One of the simplest ways to streamline communication, payments, and document sharing is by leveraging DoorLoop’s Tenant Portal. Built for speed and surprisingly simple to set up, the Tenant Portal empowers your tenants with 24/7 access to everything they need, while saving you time and reducing manual tasks. Inviting them to their portal is as simple as sending them an email or SMS message with their portal invite.

Tip: Make sure to configure your tenant portal settings before inviting your tenants to their portals!

The Steps

How to send individual Tenant Portal invites.

  1. To send a tenant portal invite to a single tenant, click People > Tenants on the main menu.

  2. Find the tenant with an active lease that you want to invite to your tenant portal. If your tenant does not have a valid email address on their profile, click the "Add Contact Info" link under the Action column. Then, enter a valid email address or phone number in the Contact Info column and click the Check Mark icon. (If there is an email address or phone number already entered, skip to Step 3.)

(Tip: If entering an email, it must be a real email address. The system will validate it to make sure it is a working email address. Otherwise, you will not be able to save the email address you enter.)

  3. Once a valid email has been entered, click on the "Send Portal Invitation" link under the Action column. This will send a portal invitation directly to the email you entered.

You can check the status of the portal invitation on the same Tenants page or in Communications > Communications Log.

Tip: Tenant portal invites can also be send via text message (SMS) with a valid mobile phone number. Once the tenant receives the text message, they will be able to click the link and enter their own email address for the login. The login email will be updated on your end and visible under their tenant profile from your dashboard.

How to send Tenant Portal invites to multiple tenants at once

There are several ways to send out bulk Tenant Portal invites all at once. You can choose to send them to all your tenants, all the tenants in a specific property, or select tenants of your choice. We have a whole separate article for this entitled, Bulk Invite Tenants to Your Portal. You can also click the links below if you already know the criteria for your bulk invites.

Tip: You can use bulk invites to resend tenant portal invites for those tenants who have not yet accepted their invitation to the tenant portal as well as to brand new tenants.

How to re-invite tenants to the tenant portal

If your tenant tells you they no longer have their tenant portal invite email, you can re-invite them to send a new tenant portal invite email.

  1. To resend a tenant portal invite to a single tenant, click People > Tenants on the main menu.

  2. Find the tenant(s) you want to resend a portal invite and click the "Send Portal Invitation" link under the Action column for that tenant. This will send a new portal invitation email to the email address on file for the tenant.

You can check the status of the portal invitation on the same Tenants page or in Communications > Communications Log.

Tip: After setting up their password, your tenants can use links in rent reminder and tenant communication emails to log in to their portal, or go to https://app.doorloop.com/auth/login and log in with their email address and password.

If they want to access their tenant portal from their phone, they can also download the DoorLoop app on Android and Apple iOS.

Note: If you receive an error stating, "A tenant with this Tenant Portal login email already exists in your DoorLoop account," it means that another tenant in the system is using the same email address. Tenants must have a unique email address and cannot share the same one as someone else. Please use another email address.
